Een man heeft zich woensdag op een politiebureau in het oosten van Birma opgeblazen. De man kwam om het leven en zeker vier politieagenten raakten gewond.
Even daarvoor was de man opgepakt en voor verhoor naar het politiebureau in Demawso gebracht, 320 kilometer ten noorden van Rangoon.
De bomaanslag was de zevende in de afgelopen weken in het door een militaire junta geregeerde Birma. De aanslagen komen op het moment dat het regime nationale verkiezingen organiseert, die door tegenstanders zijn aangemerkt als oneerlijk en ondemocratisch.
